Laurie Pycroft

Laurie Pycroft is the founder of the pro-animal research advocacy group (which per the website is no longer active) based out of University of Oxford called Pro-Test. You can find out more about Pro-Test’s work on their website, including their active sister organization Speaking of Research, and can follow Laurie @Sqrrl101.

We met with Laurie (and Tom Holder, Pro-Test Press Officer) in the city of Oxford in the UK. Laurie founded Pro-Test at the age of 16 when he held up a sign in protest against a group of local animal rights activists who were protesting the construction of a new animal research lab at Oxford. Despite our disagreement on whether animals should be used in research, I was struck by how thoughtful Laurie was when reflecting on how the lines we draw between any two animals is arbitrary. This was another opportunity for me to listen to opposing ideas, and while I didn’t convert to their point of view, I quite enjoyed this interview.

YOU CAN FIND ALL OF LAURIE PYCROFT’S INTERVIEWS HERE. This collection may increase as I upload more content to this site.
