Jarrod Bailey

Jarrod Bailey, Ph.D. is a geneticist and Science Advisor for the New England Anti-Vivisection Society (NEAVS, Boston, MA) and its major campaign, Project R&R: Release and Restitution for Chimpanzees in U.S. Laboratories. He is the Scientific Advisor to the British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection (BUAV, London, UK) and to the patient advocacy organization, Europeans for Medical Progress (now known as “Safer Medicines,” London, UK). In addition, he is an Honorary Research Associate at Newcastle University, UK. (from NEAVS website)

We flew to Newcastle upon Tyne in England to meet with Jarrod, where we met him at an amazing castle for the interview. He has a compelling story – a genetics researcher who believed in animal research until he came to the realization that using animals in research is not good science. I enjoyed the interview as Jarrod is very articulate and thoughtful, and offered a scientific argument against using animals in research.
